September is for New Beginnings

Starting September with Intention

As the warmth of August fades and we bid farewell to lazy summer days, September welcomes us with a sense of renewal—a fresh start with possibilities. 

 

August was a time for rest and relaxation, a chance to pause and soak up the sunshine. September calls us to rise with intention and embrace the changes we wish to see in our lives. 

It’s the perfect time to reflect, reset, and take steps toward a new beginning.

 

Personally, that means getting more on a schedule. While I enjoyed the ever-flowing days of summer with the sun perched high in the sky until late late night, the lack of routine has gotten me a bit anxious. I look forward to starting September being mindful of my time and disciplined with my schedule.

  • Start Your Day with Mindfulness: Set aside a few minutes each morning for meditation.  This can be as simple as 3 minutes in silence or taking 5 deep, box breaths. Ground yourself in the present moment before diving into your day.
  • Be Kinder to Yourself: Practice radical self-acceptance and silence your inner critic. Celebrate small wins and speak to yourself as you would to a dear friend.
  • Revitalize Your Fitness Routine: Whether it's trying out a new workout class, going for a daily walk, or simply stretching every morning, simple movements can invigorate your body and mind.
  • Reduce Screen Time: Reclaim your time by setting boundaries on your device usage. Use the extra time to read, connect with loved ones, or pursue a hobby that brings you joy. Instead of waking up to social media (ahem, I’m talking to myself), use that moment to set intentions for the day.
  • Set a Happy Goal for the Month: Yes we are ambitious and that can mean we are guided by performance and goals, whether it be at work, the gym, or within a hobby. But, when was the last time you set a goal based on the joy it provided? Instead of judging the success by performance, look at it from the perspective of joy and happiness. Sure, I was able to get my 5K under 30 min, but was I successful in finding joy while doing it?

 

No matter what changes you’re considering, remember that the small, consistent steps you take today will lead to lasting transformation tomorrow.
